Let's Take a Selfie!Your students take selfies, your kids take selfies, celebrities are taking selfies... so let's take "The Selfie" and RUN!! Invite your students to take a selfie and paste it to a keynote slide on their devices. Under their selfie, have students write a poem about themselves (It may/may not rhyme... don't give limitations, give them creative freedom!!). What defines them? What do they love? What are their hobbies/interests? Below is an example I've made of myself :) Don't judge!! Once they've completed the assignment, have the students go to FILE --> Export to... IMAGES. Have students save it to their desktops and share it with you in a way that works best for your class. (Evernote, email, Google, Airdrop, etc) Teachers, if you will then send me your South Block's best SELFIE, I will post a gallery wall of the highlighted selfies here on the blog!!
Can't wait to see your SELFIES!! Happy Monday! 10 Reasons why students NEED technology in the classroom!
Sara Bareilles // Brave from The Wall Group on Vimeo. Discussion points:
What does it mean to you to be BRAVE? In what ways do you have to be BRAVE? Have you had to be BRAVE as we've transitioned into the 1:1? What's the hardest part about High School and how can you be BRAVE in the face of those challenges? As a class, go back to the BRAVE lyrics Google Doc and highlight the line or phrase that stands out most to you and comment why as a whole class. If another class has highlighted the same phrase, underline or change the color of the text to add your comment. Watch and read the news report below. As a group, discuss a time you've been stuck between a rock and a hard place. How did you get out? Did someone help you? If you were back in the same situation again, would you do anything differently? What & why?
Have you ever had to assist someone else who was "stuck"? How did you help? How did it make you feel to know you were able to assist or change someone's life ? Following your discussion, post a comment that highlights a part of your South Block's discussion that really stands out or allowed the group to get to know each other better! Happy iREAD Monday! |
